Rarity Bioscience wins prestigious Disruptive Technology Award

Rarity Bioscience has received the prestigious Disruptive Technology Award for its proprietary technology, superRCA™, which enables exceptionally sensitive detection of DNA mutations in common samples. The technology can detect a single mutation among 100,000 normal molecules – a capability that is critical for patients with cancer and other mutation-driven diseases, where early diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and early detection of relapse are crucial.

"Winning this award is a major recognition of the work we are doing within molecular diagnostics. superRCA represents a new chapter in precision medicine, and receiving this kind of international recognition gives us the momentum to accelerate and scale the technology globally."

Awarded at the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory (ADLM) Annual Meeting

The award granted to Rarity Bioscience, the Disruptive Technology Award, is one of the industry’s most sought-after honors and is given to groundbreaking technologies with the potential to redefine the future of laboratory medicine. It was provided at the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM, formerly AACC) annual meeting in Chicago, which gathers over 16,000 participants from more than 100 countries.

About superRCA

Unlike many other advanced solutions, superRCA requires no expensive specialized instruments – the analysis can be performed using standard flow cytometers, enabling the technology to be accessible for hospitals and laboratories worldwide.

The superRCA technology was developed by Dr. Lei Chen, PhD in molecular biology, as part of Professor Ulf Landegren’s research group at Uppsala University. Rarity was founded in 2021 as a spin-off from Uppsala University and aims to improve diagnostics and treatment decisions globally through advanced yet accessible molecular technology.
